WP6 Remote training

Description of work
This work package provides a support infrastructure for ANTITESYS training, in order to improve availability of training resources and interaction opportunities in the network. Namely, the high level of mobility which we hope to achieve for students requires a support infrastructure enabling them to benefit from training resources and to interact with their tutors (both in industry and academic partners). To develop this infrastructure we will make use of Intel ® Share and Learn Software (SLS), which is an advanced content networking solution used for applications such as eLearning and Knowledge Management. SLS is a peer-to-peer, XML enabled suite of applications, which can be used in an enterprise or academic environment for content publishing, content management and content distribution. SLS is useful for remote learning as it allows both on-line and off-line viewing of content. Students visiting the campus can connect to SLS and download a variety of rich content classes, which are then available for viewing on or offline. SLS also enables students to post their class work or papers to a repository for review by their tutor or fellow classmates. IPLS will donate pilot licenses to Academic participants and provide training to Academic technical employees to facilitate installation of SLS at the University or appropriate Industry partners. Intel will also provide administrator and tutor training to enable the use of SLS.

The activities, listed below provides for on-going management of the communication infrastructure during the whole project, including for instance support to users. It will be completed by an assessment of the real use of the infrastructure and of its usability for students, which will be the basis of a series of guidelines for the set-up of the definitive communication infrastructure between the project partners.

  1. Intranet and on-line resources;
  2. Remote communication;
  3. Management of the communication infrastructure and assessment of its use.
